05/02 Mixed Media Canvas with Jennier Starr

Mixed Media Canvas  (3 hours  $45)
Friday, May 2nd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
(every canvas will be unique…this is just one example!)

Working on a 12x12 stretched canvas you will create a mixed media masterpiece full of color and texture with a variety of surfaces! You will learn fun and unique ways to use a variety of mists and paints from Art Anthology and beautiful mediums from Viva Decor to create gorgeous dimensional effects that will bring your art and photo to life!  No previous painting experience is needed!
 **Basic tool kit should always be brought to each class including scissors, 12” paper trimmer, Ink Blending Tool with foam, pencil and a variety of adhesives…Glossy Accents is always recommended…anything more specific is listed at the end of each class description
Please bring to class (in addition to the above):
  • Gesso
  • Collage glue such as Gel Medium, Mod Podge or Ranger's Multi-Medium.
  • Scor-tape or Fabri-tac.
  • A container for water
  • Paint brushes, including a 1" flat or larger
  • One Larger Photo (black and white looks great!) that the main image can easily be cut out.  I usually recommend 5 x 7" or larger.

They live in Northern New Jersey and have 2 children (11 year old Ryan and 9 year old Maya) who are the subject of much of her work.

05/02 Life is Beautiful Gate Book Class with Jennifer Starr


Life is Beautiful Gate Book  $38 (3 hours)
9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Friday, May 2nd.
In this class you will learn some creative mixed media techniques to help make your projects as beautiful as your life!  We’ll be working with die cut elements from Tim Holtz, Distress Inks (including the limited edition colors), Gesso, Crafter’s Workshop  Templates from the fabulous Dyan Reavely and NEW Colorations Mists from Art Antholoy…plus many more fun things will be incorporated throughout the book.  This is an 8x9” chipboard gate book with flipping and folding interactive pages inside…SO much fun!!  Focus will be on inky techniques and book construction.
**Basic tool kit should always be brought to each class including scissors, 12” paper trimmer, Ink Blending Tool with foam, pencil and a variety of adhesives…Glossy Accents is always recommended…anything more specific is listed at the end of each class description

  • scoring tool for folds, a
  • heat gun if you have one,

05/01 Stencil Boot Camp with Jen Starr

STENCIL BOOT CAMP (3 hours $45) 5:30 to 8:30 pm, Thursday, May 1st.
Stencils play a big part in so many mixed media projects and the creative 
possibilities are endless! In this workshop we will explore some of those 
possibilities using a variety of techniques and mediums from Viva Décor, Ranger 
and Art Anthology…so not only will you learn how to get the best use out of 
your stencils, but a LOT of product knowledge as well! We will go beyond the 
basics and create with some of my favorite and more advanced stencil techniques. 
We will be working in 6x6 format with instructions for each technique on the 
backs of each page to create a collection to reference.

PAINT BOOT CAMP - THEORY & EXPLORATION (3 hours $45) 9:00 am to Noon, Thursday May 1st.
This workshop will give you the “basic training” needed to translate a variety of 
paint theory and technique in to ANY project. Whether you are a Scrapbooker, 
card maker, art journaler, etc you will leave with the confidence to incorporate 
paints in to anything you do! We will tackle basic color theory, truly 
understanding the color wheel and how it works, proper blending to create crisp 
colors, a variety of basic and unique application techniques, incorporating 
mediums and textures…and how it all works together in “Mixed Media”. This 
class will give you the knowledge to use paints to their full and beautiful 
potential! We will be working in 6x6 format with instructions for each technique

projects whether you are a card maker, scrapbooker, art journaler or dabble in 
everything! We will be working in 6x6 format with instructions for each

New Class w/Jen Starr on National Scrapbook Day!

PAINT, CRACKLE, STENCIL…CREATE!!
(2 hours - $40)

Join Jen Starr on Saturday, May 3rd 11:00 am and make this beautiful masterpiece!! We are so excited to have her for her "Boot Camp Classes" on the May 1st, then a full day of classes on the 2nd too, and now we get her on Saturday too!!  You better hurry and get signed up, this one will fill fast!!

You will create a painted, crackling, stenciled, highly textured masterpiece on this 8x12 canvas incorporating a variety of techniques and products from Viva Décor and the brand new Jumbo floral die from Tim Holtz for the Canvas flower. We will focus on mixing media such as Ferro, Inka Gold, and Crackle to achieve layers of beautiful depth that just glow.

**Please bring to class: Paintable adhesive such as Gel Medium or Ranger’s Multi Medium, variety of paint brushes and a container for water, palette knife, heat gun if you have one.

In this Creative workshop you will explore stunning mixed media techniques to create effects that sparkle and shimmer while you make a one of a kind 1x3 ft butterfly themed pennant for your wall!  You will be working with mists and my line of Dimensional Crystal paints from Art Anthology plus a variety of goodies from Viva Décor to add details.  Your finished project will be so full of dimension and texture that the butterflies will seem to come to life!
